Grace Van Patten to Play Amanda Knox in Hulu Limited Series Following Margaret Qualley’s Exit
VARIETY – Grace Van Patten will play the lead role in Hulu‘s upcoming untitled Amanda Knox project, executive produced by Knox herself.
Per the official description, the eight-episode limited series is “based on the true story of how Knox was wrongfully convicted for the murder of her roommate Meredith Kercher, and her 16-year odyssey to set herself truly free.”
Margaret Qualley was originally set to play Knox, but exited the project earlier this year due to scheduling conflicts.
Van Patten is best known for leading the Hulu drama series “Tell Me Lies,” which is based on Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name and recently wrapped production on its second season. She also starred in David E. Kelley’s Hulu limited series “Nine Perfect Strangers.” Other credits include the films “A Violent Heart,” “Good Posture,” “Under the Silver Lake” and “Mayday.” In 2017, she was named on Variety‘s list of 10 Actors to Watch for her performance in Noah Baumback’s “The Meyerowitz Stories.”

DEADLINE – Coming off her role in the upcoming Hulu limited series Nine Perfect Strangers, Grace Van Patten has been tapped as the lead of the streamer’s drama Tell Me Lies, which has received a straight-to-series order.
Tell Me Lies, based on Carola Lovering’s novel, was the first project Emma Roberts set up for development at Hulu last fall under a first-look deal for her Belletrist TV banner focused on adapting books for television. Roberts is executive producing the series.

“Good Posture” Wraps Up Filming
Emily Mortimer, Grace Van Patten wrap US comedy-drama ‘Good Posture’ (exclusive)
SCREEN – Emily Mortimer (The Party, Shutter Island) and Grace Van Patten (The Meyerowitz Stories) have finished shooting Good Posture, the directorial debut of UK filmmaker and actress Dolly Wells.
Wells, who also wrote the screenplay, is known for her roles in Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, Bridget Jones’ Diary and Black Mountain Poets.
London-based AMP International is handling sales on her debut feature as a director. Producers are Maggie Monteith for Dignity Film Finance and Talland Films with Jamie Adams (Black Mountain Poets) for Twenty Dollar Pictures. Chris Reed of Freebie Films acts as executive producer.
Monteith, Adams and Reed also recently wrapped Tom Cullen’s directorial debut Pink Wall, which AMP is selling as well.
Principal Photography wrapped in Brooklyn, New York. Also starring are Timm Sharp (Enlightened), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls), John Early (Search Party) and Nat Wolff (Paper Towns). The film also features cameos from authors Zadie Smith, Martin Amis and Jonathan Ames.
Good Posture follows a young girl (Van Patten) who is placed into the care of family friends after her widower father moves to Paris with his young, new girlfriend. Under the roof of a famed author (Mortimer), the girl struggles for motivation until one day she decides to make a documentary about her new host.
Dolly Wells commented: “I am wildly grateful to Jamie for encouraging me to write and direct something. It has been a whirlwind of an adventure making a feature in 10 days and I feel enormously lucky to have had the trust of my incredibly talented cast and crew.”

‘Meyerowitz’s Grace Van Patten & ‘Fences’ Jovan Adepo Set For ‘The Violent Heart’
DEADLINE – EXCLUSIVE: Grace Van Patten and Jovan Adepo are set to star in writer-director Kerem Sanga’s drama The Violent Heart. 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen are producing the film with Ed McDonnell, Tobey Maguire’s Material Pictures and 3311. Material and 3311 are financing. Production is set to begin February in Austin, Texas.
Pic is a coming-of-age romance set just outside Ft. Hood, Texas, about a college-bound senior on the cusp of graduation, and her budding relationship with a local mechanic named Daniel (Adepo), who himself dreams of becoming a Marine. As they fall for one another, the details surrounding Daniel’s tragic and violent past inevitably catch up with them.
Van Patten recently finished Under The Silver Lake opposite Andrew Garfield and co-stars in the Noah Baumbach-directed The Meyerowitz Stories. Adepo recently wrapped production for Paramount & Bad Robot’s WW2 thriller Overlord and he had a breakout performance in the Denzel Washington-directed Fences and did two seasons on HBO’s The Leftovers.
This is Sanga’s third film. his last, First Girl I Loved, won the Next Award at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival.
21 Laps is coming off Stranger Things 2 and has the Netflix pic Kodachrome, the Lionsgate sci-fi thriller Kin and The Darkest Minds at Fox, all releasing next year. 3311 Productions’ did Brigsby Bear and Table 19, and has upcoming the Chad Hartigan-directed The Fifth Official and Gerard Johnstone-directed Sympathy For The Devil.
